Dubstep.

Name: Feena (@feena_mmm)
Pronouns: she/her
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland
Influences: Is there a difference between influences and inspirations? They merge together in my head. DMZ, 2008-10ish dubstep, Big Apple Records, Swamp81, UK dance music. Lots of new dubstep and adjacent forward thinking heavy bass sounds being made & promoted by folk like Carré, Beatrice M., Mia Koden, Woozy, Amity, Pressure Dome, Femme Bass Mafia and loads more. Headset club night and label, which consistently promotes incredible Scottish dance music. Shoegaze, 90s grunge, punk & hardcore, my sister’s and my dad’s music tastes, grime, club culture. Underground Solu’shn (Edinburgh’s longest running dance music record shop) and the team there, who furthered my musical education every shift. My colleagues at EHFM, and other insanely talented, forthright, imaginative and driven pals. Club Sylkie, Plant Bass’d. Everybody who does a show on EHFM, or any community radio. Creative development as personal growth, and vice versa.
Affiliations/Residencies/Projects: I co-run EHFM, Edinburgh’s Community Radio, with a class team of people. We just celebrated 5 years of broadcasting! I also co-run Miss World, a bi-monthly club night at Sneaky Pete’s.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community:
Find authentic people who nurture and inspire you. Be gracious for opportunities and help offered, and do the same for others. Don’t be so scared to be shit at something that you don’t try.
About the mix:
Some favourite dubstep, breaks & bass tracks old and new, with a wee bit of 4×4 and grime. Been really enjoying the 150 dubstep/half time things coming out recently. I’ve also included some Scottish artists everyone should know about.
